Steve and his wife Sheri Harte Willis reside in Bath Township where they have lived for 18 years on part of the original “Harte” farm that has been in the family since the late 1800s. Steve has lived in the greater Lansing area all of his life. His ancestry goes back to when Michigan and Clinton County were first settled when his ancestors were the 7th settlers to migrate to Eagle Township in 1835 from New York. He grew up in Grand Ledge, graduating from Grand Ledge High School, Michigan State University majoring in Political Science, and Lansing Community College majoring in Information Systems Technology.

Steve was employed by the State of Michigan, Legislative Service Bureau, for 32 years taking an early retirement in 1997. He worked for the State while attending MSU and subsequently began working there full time after completion of college. While employed at the Legislative Service Bureau he served in various capacities including, pre-press supervisor, assistant production manager, computer programmer, and information systems technician. Upon retirement from the State of Michigan he was employed as the General Manager of NewsWeb Printing Services in Greenville, Michigan for a year and a half. Steve completed the last 9 years of his full-time employment working for PrintComm, Inc., in Flint, managing four departments, including: Creative Services, Information Systems, Prepress Services, and Planning & Scheduling.

Steve has been a constitutional conservative republican all of his life. Having worked for a non-partisan State agency for 32 years he wasn’t allowed to express his political views and affiliations. Only after retiring from State service and seeing the impact in Bath Township from the Obama landside in 2008 did he decide to become active politically. Since then he has taken an active role in Township, County, State and National political issues. He has been the Communications Chair for the CCRP for the past two years, serves on the 8th Congressional Committee, is a precinct delegate, executive committee member, and has actively campaigned for republican candidates for office locally and around the state. Steve and Sheri are also members of Calvary Baptist Church in Lansing.
