With apologies to Jeff Foxworthy… If you've ever thought "You know, those Occupy Wall Street fellas have a point", you might be a liberal.
I walked through Grand Rapids last week and passed the location of "Occupy Grand Rapids". Ironically, it was a church. I say ironic because liberals spend so much time attacking God that they find shelter at His place of worship. Nietzsche was wrong - God isn't dead, but liberals with coherent and reasonable strategies for political reform are.
But as I walked by, I noticed that there weren't any people at OCG. What does it say about a movement that is unoccupied? Probably what it says about all of the Occupy sites - they are willing to put their heart and soul into showing their disgust at Wall Street, just so long as it's convenient, and not too chilly. And there is enough coffee. And their favorite episode of "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" is not on TV.
Sure they are frustrated at the government - who isn't? But unlike the Tea Party, the Occupiers are not looking to live a life with as little intrusion as possible. The Occupiers want as much government as possible, except when it comes to their causes. The government should regulate every aspect of health care for every citizen, except abortions - it's a woman's right to choose. Marijuana should be legal, but guns should not. No blood for oil, but perhaps a scrape or two is worth it for solar panel manufacturing plant, as long as the plant doesn't interrupt the sleep pattern of the three-horned five-toed green frog.
I can't conclude without pointing out bullet point four on the OGR wiki site - "Cash box is missing since Tuesday". Doesn't that sound like just like an liberal-run country? Like Occupy Grand Rapids's cash box, the United States' cash box is missing, too. If only OGR realized it was their dream of life a nanny state becoming closer to a reality that caused our cash to disappear.
